Activities such as intimate campfire concerts, hiking, river floating, canoeing, paddle boarding, kayaking, rope swings, fishing, various workshops on reptile handling, beekeeping and nature identification with a true master naturalist, live transcendental meditative music mixed with morning yoga sessions with Christi Workman of Hi/Lo Kick Studios, kids music class and performance by AndyRoo and the Andyrooniverse on Saturday, family activities and puppet shows and natural live art exhibits by Journey Through. There will also be a One-Pot Cook-Off Competition on Saturday, where six cooking teams will come up with one dish that is made in one pot using only one flame. The teams can cook a cold dish off-site, or on-site, but it must fit in one pot. If teams do cook on-site, they can start any time after 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, and the dish must be ready for the campers around 6 or 7 p.m. Utensils will be supplied. Lastly, there will be a group float provided by an outside outfitter for an extra cost. It comes with tube rental, pickup and drop-off, and attendees can float back to the campgrounds and stop at the stage as the music starts. Attendees are also invited to float on their own throughout weekend.

River Revival giveaways and prizes include the “Most Creative Campsite Award” and the “King & Queen Campers Awards.” The winners will receive a prize and get crowned the official king and queen of River Revival. It is the highest honor and it comes with a lot of respect. More awards include the “Should’ve Been at Woodstock Award” where the most down-to-earth hippy soul will win. Campers seeking a prize are advised to “come natural, come happy and spread peace … and you will win a prize.” Other prizes are the “Best Hat Award” and “Most Creative Style Award” where attendees with costumes and colored attire will win. Lastly, campers will vote on their favorite dish in the One-Pot Cook-Off Competition.

“Every year we like to sign at least one blues legend to our lineup, bands who are on the rise, or artists who have impressed us on any size stage in the year leading up to River Revival,” said Splice Records CEO Shaun Brennan. “This year we have added the best live band in country to the bill, Pimps of Joytime, from Brooklyn, New York. They are a multi-genre funky mash up that I saw live for the first time three years ago at JazzFest. Ever since that first show, I have followed them and seen them on every occasion that I could. The problem was that every time would require me to be in New Orleans. That triggered my will, and I was determined to change that. I made it a dream of mine to be the one to bring them to Texas to have them play live at River Revival. The energy from their live performance combined with their unique mixture of funky-soul has me profoundly excited to announce that the Pimps of Joytime will be closing the main stage and headlining this year’s festival.”

“Friday night we have Grammy Award winner Alvin Youngblood Hart bringing his trio to the stage,” said Brennan. “He is a musician’s musician who has a long history of incredible songs with a rootsy Mississippi Delta blues sound that is unique to modern music. His guitar and songwriting will give our campers that balance of music that is meant to be heard in nature around a campfire.”

“We are not trying to be the biggest festival or the loudest, we are just trying to be the most fun,” says Splice Records CEO Shaun Brennan. “The camping and the Guadalupe River are what separates us from other festivals. River Revival is so much more than a music fest, the combination of the music and river is our recipe for a special weekend.”

Clean and maintained showers are available on-site, but they do require quarters for operation. The campgrounds provide firewood and ice, and there is also a small store on site. Campers are allowed to bring their own supplies as well. Tent campers will have a reserved campsite that will be made specifically for them. There will be a family area sectioned off for attendees with children. At check-in, the campsite number and itinerary will be provided. RV and motorhome spaces are also available on a first-come-first-serve basis but are very limited. The 30-amp RV premium campsites come with a one-time $95 additional cost which can be purchased during the ticket checkout experience.

“We do our best to show our true selves while offering pure southern hospitality to the festival-goers by cooking for them, floating with them, offering them cold tasty beverages and performing for them live at night,” said Brennan. “The stage is right next to a flowing river and the food, drink and river time are all inclusive. Not only can you bring your own (fill in the blank), we also provide the campers with free meals and complimentary beverages.”

Splice Records to release new Pecos Hank music video ‘Drive Under the Moon’ with sneak peek July 20 at The Secret Group

Houston-based musician and nationally revered ‘storm chaser’ Pecos Hank Schyma set to release brand new music video with a special sneak peek party at The Secret Group this ThursdayPecos Hank

(AUSTIN, TEXAS – July 18, 2017) – Splice Records and Saint Arnold Brewing Company are delighted to announce that musician and seasoned extreme weather photographer Pecos Hank Schyma will be releasing a brand new music video for his hit single “Drive Under the Moon.” The track is from Hank’s album “El Reno Blues,” released in August of 2016. After reviewing the album, Andrew Dansby of the Houston Chronicle said, “The beautiful ‘El Reno Blues’ unfolds patiently with an emphasis on mood; it plays like a nighttime drive toward a strange town. The new tunes have a spaciousness and rely on evocative sounds, like the gypsy swing of a violin and heavy guitar reverb. His songs reflect his affinity for storms.”Pecos Hank Album

In celebration of the video release, there will be a live sneak peek party at The Secret Group located at 2101 Polk St., Houston, Texas 77003 this Thursday, July 20. The event starts at 7 p.m. The video premiere will showcase Schyma’s new music video and the library of music videos produced by Splice Records. Admission is free and more details on the event can be found here. For more information on Pecos Hank and his fascinating music and storm chasing career, please see pecoshank.com.

“Hank is a filmmaker, animal enthusiast, storm chaser and musician. ‘The Driver Under the Moon’ music video showcases his music, his storm videos and his filmmaking ability. We believe his fans will appreciate how he incorporated all those aspects into one piece of art,” said Shaun Brennan, co-founder of Splice Records, Schyma’s newest label home.

Schyma is all of the following: storm chaser, photographer, accomplished YouTube personality with millions of views to his credit, actor, screenplay writer, director, filmmaker, snake handler, trained stunt driver and, not to mention, a songwriter and charismatic performer. He likes to make the joke that he has a direct “genetic link” to Pecos Bill; fitting for a wild man whose true tales of wrestling weather, wrangling snakes and waves (one of his first loves was surfing) are indeed on par with the larger than life folklore cowboy.

“Hank is part animal, part badass musician,” stated Brennan. “He thinks like an animal, understands nature, and has instincts that are not typical in humans. This comes out in his songwriting and his music. He is authentic in his approach and it’s obvious it’s not calculated. I have never met a person that is more in the moment than him — on and off the stage.”

The founding member of the Southern Backtones, a Southwestern Rock band heralded for their voodoo rock, Schyma is alighting on a solo effort after 15 years. Stripping away the “devil-may-care rock ‘n’ roll” from the undercurrent of Spaghetti Western honky-tonk style that flows through its core, Pecos Hank embodies the deep sound he defines as “what you get when you turn to the dark side of the roots.” A departure that Schyma describes as “new, new, new,” Pecos Hank is like a new town after a catastrophe, it is “a shiny, sparkly new start and that new car smell.”Pecos Hank

In 1994 Schyma captured his first bolt of lightning on film and in 2002 his first tornadoes. By 2008 He was a seasoned professional extreme weather photographer working for local TV stations and is now working regularly with national and international entities such as The Weather Channel, Discovery Channel, National Geographic and more. He lives and breathes the art of creation and has created a dedicated following on the road and his YouTube page. He has collectively managed to attract 135,000 subscribers and over 43 million views.
